Humours

Had this yucky feeling in my throat yesterday and that'd be always a mental indicator I'd fall sick. They say in any moment in which you're experiencing thoughts that make you feel sick or bad, do your best to change them to thoughts that support the idea of feeling good. Refuse to talk about sickness; and work to activate thoughts that predict recovery and overall well-being.

Lol! That worked miserably in my case.

No temperature just a general lethargy with a bit of hingus meleleh [sinus]. I clumped tissue in my hand everywhere as I traipsed about in the office. I'm not surprised if there'd be host of bacteria at my workdesk this instance. It didn't help further when that morning, well almost, was spent off in a meeting to finalise some work. If there was an apothecary around, he'd say my humours were imbalanced because I wasn't able to contribute much.

I truly love the middle-age and the Renaissance's understanding of Hippocratic pathology and physiology - to denote the four humours as represented by the four fluids - blood, phlegm, yellow bile and black bile, in your body. The admixture or commingling of these determine a person's disposition, character, mind, morality and temperament. The humours released spirits or vapours which affect the brain, and hence a person's behaviour. How cool is that!? This reminds me to reread Jonson's play 'Everyman in His Humour' or any Jacobean works.

Well that's enough on darkage idea. The good doc, yes the ones that dispense MCs for your pitiful cagey self, gave me a combination of meds to quell off this humoural imbalance of mine. He said I should have a blood check if I'm not better by Monday. It's for dengue, he said casually, then continued scribbling notes in my medical records. I could only muster a "Hmm" in agreement. Woodlands, has had some cases reported, well, at least according to some big obscene banners stragetically placed would have you informed.

For now, here's to a good rest at home!
